Findings
Orthogonal radiographs of the stifle are available for interpretation.
There is extensive periarticular new bone formation along the medial and lateral femoral epicondyles, the trochlear ridges, the base and apex of the patella, the fabellae, the medial and lateral tibial condyles, and the head of the fibula. There is marked thickening of the medial aspect of the stifle. Small osseous bodies are noted in the cranial aspect of the stifle joint space, adjacent to the intercondylar eminence of the tibia. There is moderate stifle intracapsular effusion.
Diagnosis
- Severe degenerative joint disease of the left stifle. The degenerative changes suggest underlying joint instability, such as secondary to cranial cruciate ligament rupture.
Discussion
The case was initially seen by Dr. Stokowski on clinics
