Findings
Study: Whole body - ventrodorsal and lateral radiographs are available for interpretation.
Findings: Caudal coelomic serosal detail is decreased. There is a large, tortuous, tubular, soft tissue opaque structure within the caudodorsal coelom which results in ventral and caudal deviation of the gastrointestinal tract. There is a moderate volume of stippled mineral opaque material within the ventriculus. There is a bi-lobed, well-margined, metal opaque structure and few pinpoint metal opaque foci also identified within the ventriculus. The intestines contain mild volumes of gas and homogeneously soft tissue/fluid opaque material.
The crop is moderately to severely distended and contains gas, homogeneously soft tissue/fluid opaque material, thin, angular, mineral opaque structures and stippled mineral opaque material. The remaining intra-coelomic structures are normal.
Diagnosis
- The large, tortuous, tubular soft tissue opaque structure within the caudal coelom is most concerning for pathology resulting in a distended oviduct (such as salpingitis or pyosalpinx). - Reduced coelomic detail is likely from visceral crowding, however, coelomic effusion cannot be excluded. - Metal opaque foreign material within the ventriculus. - Crop distension.
Discussion
The patient underwent surgical salpingohysterectomy
