1 year old australian cattle dog. Attacked/kicked by a horse about 90 min ago

Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the thorax are available for interpretation.

There is a moderate volume of gas and a small volume of fluid in the pleural space. The caudal lung margins have retracted from the wall of the thoracic cavity.

There is a moderate, bilateral, asymmetric, unstructured interstitial pattern throughout the lungs.

The cardiovascular structures are small in all images. The cardiac silhouette has deviated from the sternum in both lateral views.

The trachea and diaphragmatic margin are normal.

The right 5th - 11th ribs are fractured though their mid-bodies. The fracture segments are angled cranially.

Diagnosis

Traumatic lesions include: · Multiple (right 5th-11th) rib fractures ·

Moderate pneumothorax with mild pleural effusion suspected to represent hemorrhage
