Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the abdomen are available for interpretation.

The serosal detail is generally decreased, and there is a large amount of gas within the peritoneal cavity, with a small amount of subcutaneous gas along the ventral abdomen.

There is a lobular, heterogeneously mineral opaque structure in the mid to cranial abdomen measuring approximately 6cm in greatest dimension. Multiple, smaller (up to approximately 0.4cm), round to polygonal mineral opaque structures are noted along the ventral abdomen.

The stomach and small intestines contains small amounts of gas. The colon is filled with gas and formed stool. The liver is normal. The urinary bladder is moderately distended. The remaining abdominal viscera are obscured due to the poor serosal detail.

The uterus is not distinctly identified in this study. The mammillae are enlarged.

There is nominal lumbosacral spondylosis deformans. The included caudal thorax is normal.

Diagnosis

- Subcutaneous emphysema, pneumoperitoneum, and poor serosal detail are consistent with the reported recent laparotomy.
