Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the right carpus are available for review.

There is palisading periosteal proliferation along the phalanges of the first digit, metacarpals, accessory carpal bone, and imaged portions of the radius and ulna. The imaged soft tissues are moderately swollen.

Diagnosis

Periosteal proliferation is most consistent with hypertrophic osteopathy. Radiographic examination of the thorax is recommended.

Discussion

The patient underwent thoracic radiographs and a large pulmonary mass was found. The mass was confirmed to be a pulmonary carcinoma.

Notes

This case was initially seen on clinics by Dr. Stokowski
