Findings

Abdomen - ventrodorsal and opposite lateral radiographs are available for interpretation.

Abdominal serosal detail is normal.

There is a large, well-defined, metallic opaque threaded bolt (which is mobile) within the stomach. A mild volume of gas is also present in the stomach. The remainder of the gastrointestinal tract is normal.

The liver, spleen, kidneys and urinary bladder are normal. There is a mild volume of homogeneously soft tissue/fluid opaque material in the caudal esophagus. The physes are open consistent with the patient's age.

Diagnosis

Gastric foreign body (e.g. bolt) consistent with reported ingestion. The material within the caudal esophagus likely represents fluid.

Discussion

The patient underwent endoscopy and the bolt was removed without any complications.
