Diagnosis
- The thoracic structures are normal.
- There is a closed, markedly comminuted fracture of the left scapula with at least three larger fracture fragments and numerous smaller fragments. The majority of the fragments are displaced medially with various degrees of caudodorsal displacement. There is moderate soft tissue swelling and fluid streaking of the proximal left limb centered around the scapular fractures. There are open physes, consistent with the patient’s young age.
Discussion
- Closed, markedly comminuted left scapular fracture, as described, with associated hemorrhage and/or edema.
- Unremarkable thorax. Pulmonary contusions cannot be excluded.
