Findings
Orthogonal radiographs of the right stifle are available for interpretation.
There is a complete fracture extending through the lateral aspect of the mid to distal patella with minimal distomedial and cranial displacement. This fracture is L-shaped on the altearl view and obliquely oriented on the CC view. There is mild thickening of the proximal aspect of the patellar ligament, immediate distal to the patellar apex. There is mild intracapsular soft tissue swelling of the stifle. The popliteal lymph node is mildly enlarged and is either bilobed, or there are incidentally two popliteal lymph nodes.
Diagnosis
- Fracture of the right patellar apex, as described. Mild thickening of the patellar ligament is likely secondary to trauma and may represent a concurrent desmopathy. Mild stifle joint effusion is likely due to mild joint instability.
- Mild popliteal lymphadenopathy, likely reactive.
