Findings

Opposite lateral and VD views of the abdomen are available for interpretation.

The serosal detail is mildly diffusely decreased in the mid abdomen. The liver is diffusely enlarged extending past the costal arch with rounded margins, and there are a few, pinpoint to linear mineral foci superimposed with the cranial liver on the lateral views. The stomach contains a moderate amount of gas and homogenous fluid/soft tissue opaque material, a mild amount of heterogenous soft tissue opaque material. There are multiple small intestinal segments which are markedly gas distended in the caudal abdomen, and in the cranial ventral abdomen, there are small intestinal segments which are normal in diameter. Within the mid abdomen, there is material which is fluid/soft tissue opaque with linear gas striations within a small intestinal segment, and there are a few pinpoint metallic foci associated with this material. The colon is homogenously fluid/soft tissue opaque. The spleen is normal. The kidneys measure at the high end of normal (up to 3.5 times the length of L2). The urinary bladder is normal. The patient has a large amount of subcutaneous fat.

Diagnosis

Discussion

The patient underwent abdominal surgery where adhesions were found and textile foreign material was removed from the small intestines.
