Findings
Left lateral, right lateral, and ventrodorsal thoracic radiographs are available for review.
The cardiac silhouette is severely enlarged and confluent with the margin of the diaphragm. Only a small triangular shaped portion of the liver is seen in the cranial abdomen. The pulmonary vasculature and lungs are normal. The trachea deviates dorsally, but is normal and uniform in diameter.
No abnormalities are detected in the pleural space. There is mild, multifocal, incidental spondylosis deformans.
Diagnosis
- Peritoneo-pericardial diaphragmatic hernia with suspected herniation of a portion of the liver. This is a congenital condition that is likely incidental in a patient of this age.
