Diagnosis

Orthogonal radiographs of the thorax are available for interpretation.

The first and second left ribs are fractured.

At the level of the sixth intercostal space just dorsal to the mainstem bronchi there is at least 2 pneumatoceles.

There is a focal increased moderate to severe interstitial pattern within the left and the right caudal hemithoraxes.

On the left lateral radiograph, 1 of the humeral head doesn't appear congruent with the distal scapula. This area is not included on the VD views.

Discussion

Pulmonary contusions, pneumatoceles and fractured ribs as described above. The changes affecting the shoulder should be evaluated in the light of clinical signs. Additional imaging would be beneficial if indicated.

A pneumatocele is a cavity in the lung parenchyma filled with air that may result from pulmonary trauma.

Additional radiographs

Radiographs of the shoulders were taken and reveal a chronic luxation.
