Findings
A partial study of the abdomen (including mid abdominal right and left lateral views and cranial and mid abdominal VD views) is available for interpretatin.
Diagnosis
The caudal abdomen is not included on any of the images, and the cranial aspect of the liver is only included on the cranial VD view. The serosal detail in the included abdomen is normal. There is a large, rectangular, soft tissue opaque structure within the stomach which has multiple evenly spaced gas opacities (consistent with a corn cob). The pylorus and duodenum are gas filled on the left lateral and VD views and are normal. The included small intestines and colon are normal. The included liver is normal on the provided views. The spleen and unobscured margins of the kidneys are normal. The urinary bladder is not included in the study.
Discussion
- Large gastric foreign body consistent with a corn cob (too large to pass through the GI tract). There is no evidence of small intestinal mechanical obstruction.
