Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the whole body available for interpretation.

There is a moderate amount of partially mineralized material within the lumen of the stomach and within the lumen of the large intestine. Overall the coelomic cavity is largely distended resulting in compression of the thoracic cavity from caudal. Within the coelomic cavity there are numerous multilobulated structures bilaterally which reduce the serosal detail.

Diagnosis

Changes most suggestive of a large amount of follicles within the coelomic cavity resulting in the mass-effect and compressing the respiratory tract. The mineralized material within the GI tract is most likely supplemental nutritional calcium.

Discussion

The patient underwent abdominal surgery to remove the ovarian follicles and clinical signs have resolved. See annotated radiographs below and post-surgical image. (Gross images courtesy of Dr Sojka)
