History

1-year-old female ragdoll, found in the closet unwilling to move

Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the pelvis are available for interpretation.

There is a complete fracture through the right femoral capital physis. There is mild cranial displacement of the fracture. The right femoral neck is mildly radiolucent and thin on the flexed hip view. The included physes are slightly open, consistent with the patient’s age.

The included abdominal structures are normal.

Diagnosis

Slipped capital femoral epiphysis on the right side

Discussion

The abnormality is usually more evident on a frog legged view.
