History

Wild snake. Distended abdomen since found 2 weeks ago

Findings

Orthogonal views of the mid body have been performed.

Within the mid to caudal coelom and contained within the GI tract, there is an ovoid smoothly marginated structure with a thick mineral rim. There is focal distention of the body secondary to this structure.

Seen on the DV view cranial to this structure, one of the right ribs is focally widened in its mid body, with abnormal caudal angulation of the distal aspect of this rib when compared to the adjacent ribs.

Diagnosis

Mineral opaque GI foreign body, consistent a ceramic egg. This egg is intact.

The changes to the described right rib are most consistent with historic fracture, and are considered incidental.

Discussion

The snake underwent surgery and the ceramic egg was removed. See picture below
