History

6 month old Irish Wolfhound. Pain on shoulder extension

Findings

Left Shoulder:

There is marked multifocal subchondral lysis of the caudal humeral head and irregular margination of the articular surface, with sclerosis of the underlying bone. There is a round periarticular osseous body caudal and medial to the humeral head. There is irregular margination of the medial aspect of the glenoid cavity. There are open physes consistent with the patient’s young age.

Right Shoulder:

There is marked multifocal subchondral lysis of the caudal humeral head and irregular margination of the articular surface, with sclerosis of the underlying bone. There is irregular margination of the medial aspect of the glenoid cavity and the medial aspect of the distal scapula. There are open physes consistent with the patient’s young age.

Diagnosis

Severe osteochondrosis/osteochondritis dissecans of the caudal humeral heads
