Findings
Opposite lateral and VD radiographs of the abdomen.
The serosal detail is normal.
There is severe generalized enlargement of the left kidney, which remains smoothly marginated. The kidney is so large that it is resulting in ventral and rightward displacement of the colon and small intestines. The unobscured margins of the right kidney are normal. There is a small ovoid faintly mineralized focus superimposed with the plane of the urinary bladder on the lateral views.
The liver is diffusely, mildly enlarged with rounded margins. The spleen is normal. The gastrointestinal tract is normal.
There is severe flattening and remodeling of the femoral heads and acetabula. The remodeling is resulting in marked malformation of the femoral heads and severe thickening of normal femoral necks. On the lateral views, there is dorsal subluxation of the femoral heads.
Diagnosis
- Severe left renomegaly could represent a large renal cyst or severe hydronephrosis.
- Hepatomegaly is non-specific and could represent benign or malignant etiologies.
- Hip dysplasia, severe secondary degenerative joint disease and coxofemoral subluxation.
