Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the abdomen are available for interpretation.

The serosal details normal.

The stomach is moderately distended with mostly gas, and a small volume of heterogenous soft tissue opaque material. The small intestines have a bunched and mildly corrugated pattern, most significantly within the mid ventral abdomen. Most of the small intestines are bunched on the VD view, and mostly superimposed with the spine.

The descending colon contains a small volume of gas. The liver, spleen, an obscured margin of kidneys, and the urinary bladder are normal.

There is incidental spondylosis deformans of L7-S1.

Diagnosis

The gastrointestinal changes are most consistent with a linear foreign body. Exploratory laparotomy is recommended, however, an abdominal ultrasound could be performed for further evaluation.

Discussion

The patient underwent surgical explore and a linear foreign body was removed from the small intestines.
