Findings

Orthogonal radiographs of the thorax are available for interpretation.

There is a marked mixed pulmonary pattern characterized by an interstitial to alveolar pattern, more so in the cranioventral and caudodorsal aspects of the pulmonary parenchyma, partially obscuring the cardiac silhouette. The interstitial to alveolar pattern within the caudodorsal lungs has a patchy and almost nodular appearance.

The unobscured aspect of the cardiac silhouette is within normal limits.

The caudal vena cava is small. The pulmonary vasculature is obscured by the pulmonary pattern.

The mediastinum and pleural space are normal.

The physes are open consistent with a young patient age. The liver is mildly diffusely enlarged extending beyond the costal arch, likely normal for the young patient age.

Diagnosis

Mixed pulmonary pattern is most consistent with noncardiogenic pulmonary edema

Small caudal vena cava consistent with dehydration/hypovolemia

Discussion

The owner reported that an electrical cord was chewed at home and the patient suffered burns on the lips leading a diagnosis of electrocution.
