Findings

There is a large soft tissue opacity within one distal portion of the duodenum in the caudal right abdomen with numerous swirling/irregular gas opacities. This loop of bowel is markedly distended and can be traced to the pyloric antrum with streaking soft tissue and gas opacity. The stomach is also distended with primarily soft tissue opacity in a small amount of gas. The remainder the small bowel is relatively empty. The colon is also relatively empty. No abnormalities of the remaining abdominal organs are appreciated. Serosal and retroperitoneal detail are within normal limits. The visible portion of the thorax is within normal limits. No skeletal abnormalities are appreciated.

Diagnosis

Mechanical obstruction of the distal descending duodenum with cloth type material. No evidence of perforation.

A leopard thong was found upon exploratory laparotomy.
