11y FS Beagle/Corgi mix presenting for lethargy, decreased appetite and trembling.

Non-specific abdominal pain on physical examination.

Findings

The urinary bladder is distended and contains a large amount of variably sized gas bubbles. The bladder neck is normal in appearance. No abnormalities are seen associated with the gastrointestinal tract.

Diagnosis

Emphysematous cystitis (gas within the urinary bladder wall).

A cystocentesis and UA/culture were submitted.

UA: Protein: 346.9, 10-20WBC and RBC, many rod shaped bacteria Culture: E. Coli >100,000 col/ml
